your letters I AM directed by the Earl of Crewe to acknowledge the receipt of of the 10th and 11th instant, with reference to the restrictions placed upon the sale of opium by the Provincial Government at Canton and by the authorities at Kiangnan, and to request you to inform Sir E. Grey that Lord Crewe concurs in both the replies which it is proposed to send to Sir J. Jordan.
